STATE PARK
Utahraptor State Park
Profile
Utahraptor State Park is one of Utah’s newest state parks, covering about 6,000 acres of dinosaur fossil beds, hiking trails, and campgrounds along Highway 191, roughly 15 miles north of Moab, right next to Arches National Park. It protects the Dalton Wells Quarry, where the first fossils of the then-unknown, velociraptor-like Utahraptor were dug up in 1975. The site also preserves more recent human history alongside the deep past. Lawmakers created it in 2021, and it officially opened on May 23, 2025.
