Park Information
Saguaro National Park is a protected area in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona, United States. It is named for the saguaro, a type of cactus that is native to the region and is featured prominently throughout the park. The park is divided into two sections, Saguaro West and Saguaro East, which are located on either side of the city of Tucson.
Saguaro West is known for its rugged terrain and beautiful desert landscapes, including mountains, valleys, and canyons. It is home to a variety of plant and animal life, including coyotes, javelinas, and over 250 species of birds. The park also has a number of hiking trails, including the popular King Canyon Trail and the Hugh Norris Trail, which offer stunning views of the surrounding desert.
Saguaro East, on the other hand, is characterized by its flat, open desert landscape and is home to a number of unique plant communities, including grasslands and savannas. It is also home to the Rincon Mountain District Visitor Center, which offers a number of educational exhibits and ranger-led programs for visitors.
