Park Information
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a United States National Park located in western Colorado. It is named for the Gunnison River, which has carved a deep, narrow gorge through the park's rugged landscape. The park is known for its steep walls, which rise up to 2,700 feet in some places and are composed of dark, Precambrian-era rock. The park is home to a variety of plant and animal life, including bighorn sheep, golden eagles, and a variety of reptiles and amphibians. It is a popular destination for rock climbing, hiking, and sightseeing. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is located about 230 miles southwest of Denver.
Visitor Information
South Rim: Open All day, every day.
North Rim: Closes at the end of November and Opens at the end of April. When open - open 24/7.
