Happy 4th Birthday, All Roads Taken!

Four years ago Tyler and I were driving back from a family vacation in Ouray, Colorado. We were lucky enough to go on this trip with Tyler's family and the most special part was Tyler's 82 year old grandmother was on this trip with us. It was her first time seeing the mountains. To say she was awestruck by the landscape would be an understatement. We spent the whole week exploring, climbing to the tops of mountains, and letting the scenery and experience marinate in our soul.

As we drove home we knew our idea of All Roads Taken had to become a reality. We knew that we needed to provide a space to encourage people to actively Choose Adventure. So somewhere close to Denver on I-70, we took the leap and filed for an LLC and All Roads Taken was born.

We've spent 4 years molding All Roads Taken into what you see now. In a way these first four years were our training grounds. Thank you for letting us grow into our dream, but buckle up, because we've got more mountains to climb!

With gratitude,
Jada & Tyler

It's Worth the Drive
OURAY, COLORADO

By: Jada Dooling

Since I brought up Ouray, we can't not talk about how this place is Worth the Drive. Ouray is one of those towns you instantly fall in love with. Its quaint simplicity, its proximity to mountains to explore. It's one of those towns where you want to bring all your people to, but at the same time you don't want the people to invade because you don't want it to change.  But sharing is caring, so invite your friends/family and take the trip!

We've explored Ouray in multiple different ways and finding lodging to accommodate can be difficult. Here are my suggestions based on different group sizes:

1. Just the Two of You — The Western Hotel: This hotel is right in the mix of downtown, has a restaurant on site, and has complimentary spa amenities, so if you are playing in the mountains all day and want to unwind at night - this spot is awesome.

2. Family Friendly — Mission Rock #1: We were able to stay at this condo with some friends. We easily had 4 adults and 3 children and it was perfect! This property also has two additional units on the grounds available for rent. So if you have a bigger group and some people want their own space, this is a really great option.

3. Everyone and the Kitchen Sink — Cutler Creek Main House: Bring your family, bring your friends. This place has plenty of room for everyone. This is where we stayed on our family trip.  We had 9 Adults and 4 Kids with plenty of room for everyone.

Our Can't Miss Adventure: Yankee Boy Basin

This trail has a little bit for everyone. Our kids loved exploring the waterfall at around the halfway point. We love reaching the top and soaking in the views.  We have been lucky enough to watch a full moon rise over the mountains, which was so beautiful. When you reach the top, you do have an option for some hikes, there is a short but moderately difficult hike where you can see Blue Lakes. If you are feeling really spicy you could do the Mt. Sneffels hike.

If Ouray hasn't made it onto your list, it should. In the summer it's filled with people exploring the mountains and in the winter it is filled with people ice climbing. But at the end of the day, it is just a really awesome place that everyone should see at least once, but we highly recommend it more than once.
