Trail Information
Sandstone Canyon is an incredible slot canyon off of the Fish Creek Wash in Anza Borrego State Park. While most slot canyons are barely big enough to hike through, this unique canyon is wide enough to drive through!
This trail is not difficult as long as you're comfortable negotiating tight spaces - and the Fish Creek wash you take to get there is mild as well. That said, make sure to bring food and water with you if you're out in this area as it's quite remote.
Our family experienced this trail for the first time in early 2022 and we've been talking about how fantastic and unique it is ever since. The whole of Anza Borrego makes you feel as though you're on Tattooine, and the idea that you're able to navigate a vehicle through a slot canyon adds to the other-worldly atmosphere. There are a couple of nice camp spots close by that I wish we'd been prepared for, but we were just on a day trip. At any rate, we can't wait to go back and would highly recommend you make the drive.
