Trail Information
Ophir Pass is a well-known off-road trail in the San Juans that connects the town of Ophir (and after that Telluride) to the town of Silverton. It reaches a peak of 11789 ft and offers beautiful views of waterfalls, wildflowers, vistas, and everything else that makes the San Juans so terrific.
Ophir is not a difficult trail and has only one section of narrow shelf road that gives it a moderate rating. The rest of the route is mild and can be completed by almost any high-clearance, 4WD vehicle. This makes it an ideal option for those interested in getting valuable some time on dirt, but not looking to attempt some of the more challenging trails the area has to offer.
