Onion Creek

Onion Creek is a gravel road that winds its way through a stunning canyon just a bit north of Moab, UT.  It's one of the easier trails in the Moab area, offers an opportunity to experience the rugged beauty of the region for those with most stock 4WD vehicles. The road follows the path of the creek and provides access to various recreational opportunities such as hiking and photography.

Features
One of the highlights along Onion Creek Road is the Fisher Towers area, which is renowned for its towering red rock formations that rise dramatically from the surrounding landscape. These rock formations have attracted hikers, climbers, and nature enthusiasts for years due to their unique shapes and colors.  Additionally, as the road winds through the red rock desert landscape, it offers various vantage points where you can catch glimpses of the majestic La Sal Mountains on the horizon. The contrast between the vibrant red rock formations of the desert and the snow-capped peaks of the La Sal Mountains creates a stunning visual spectacle.  Combine these features with the twenty-six water crossings you'll encounter along the way, and you'll certainly be set up for a wonderful day on the trail.

Difficulty

Onion Creek is generally considered to be a mild trail that is accessible for most stock 4WD vehicles.  The road itself can be narrow and occasionally challenging depending on road conditions, so it's advisable to check the local conditions and vehicle requirements before embarking on the journey.
