Trail Information
Kendal Mountain is a fun, beautiful trail just outside of Silverton, CO. It has been a family favorite of ours since we first ran it in 2019 for a few reasons.
- It's typically not as busy as many of the more popular surrounding trails like Engineer Pass or Imogene Pass. This makes for a much quieter experience and gives space for you to enjoy the surrounding view with little competition.
- The difficulty is mild, with the only real obstacle being that there is a section of narrow shelf road toward the top.
- There are a number of places to stop and enjoy lunch and take in the views - especially during wildflower season in late July through early August.
- The trail ends at an amazing overlook of Silverton that is more than worth the drive all by itself.
Kendal Mountain is a trail that's more than doable in a stock, high-clearance vehicle, and it creates an excellent opportunity for anyone visiting the Silverton area to get above the tree line and see the full beauty of of San Juans.
