Cliff Hanger

The Cliff Hanger trail in Moab, Utah, is a popular off-road destination known for its moderate to high difficulty and stunning scenic views. Situated amidst the striking red rock landscapes, this trail features rocky terrain, sandy stretches, steep inclines, and ledges, providing a mix of challenges for off-roaders.  The trail gets its name from the dramatic cliffside sections that offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Cliff Hanger is considered to be of moderate to high difficulty. The trail features rocky sections with uneven surfaces, requiring careful tire placement and precise navigation. Some parts might have ledges or steps that require careful approach angles and suspension articulation.  You'll encounter both steep uphill climbs and downhill descents that can be particularly challenging, especially if they are combined with loose or uneven terrain.  You'll also face a number of off-camber sections where the terrain tilts to the side, putting extra pressure on one side of the vehicle. These areas demand cautious driving to prevent tipping or rollovers.

While the Cliffhanger trail is not as extreme as some other Moab trails like Pritchett Canyon, it still requires a certain level of off-road driving experience. It's generally recommended for those who have some familiarity with off-road driving and are comfortable navigating challenging terrain.  As with any off-road trail, it's a good idea to tackle the Cliffhanger trail with a group of experienced off-roaders, especially if it's your first time on the trail. Having spotters and experienced drivers in the group can provide valuable guidance and assistance.
