Trail Information
The Broken Arrow Trail, located just a few miles from the heart of Sedona, is a popular off-road route that covers approximately 4 miles (fewer if you don't take the side trails). Managed by the Coconino National Forest, this trail winds through the picturesque red rocks and provides access to some iconic landmarks, including Submarine Rock and Chicken Point.
As you navigate the Broken Arrow Trail, you'll be treated to an awe-inspiring display of vibrant red rock formations. Towering sandstone cliffs, weathered buttes, and dramatic canyons create a breathtaking backdrop that seems straight out of a western movie. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the mesmerizing beauty of the Sedona landscape.
One of the trail's main attractions is Chicken Point, a scenic overlook that rewards visitors with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and red rock formations. It's an ideal spot to take a break, have a picnic, or simply soak in the natural splendor. Additionally, you can explore the Submarine Rock formation, known for its distinctive shape resembling the bow of a submarine, offering a unique photo opportunity.
The Broken Arrow Trail presents a moderate level of difficulty, making it suitable for both seasoned overlanders and beginners looking to test their skills. A gatekeeper exists about a mile into the trail, and if it causes you no pause then you should be just fine for the remainder of the trail. Certain vehicles can run this trail in stock form, but high-clearance and 4x4 are necessary.
