Silver Lake Sand Dunes

The Silver Lake Sand Dunes are a popular ORV recreation area located in Michigan's Silver Lake State Park. The park is situated in Oceana County, Michigan, along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. The nearest town is Mears, and the closest city of significant size is Muskegon.

The dunes at Silver Lake are truly massive. Covering more than 2,000 acres, the dunes are part of a larger complex that extends along the Lake Michigan shoreline. In addition to a designated ORV area, the dunes offer excellent opportunities for hiking, boating, biking, and even horseback riding.

The park is open seasonally from April through October.  There are a number of regulations for each of the park's areas including permits and vehicle identification. Please check with the Michigan DNR website for updated regulations and information to ensure you're up to date before your trip.
