Park Information
The Gateway Arch National Park, located in St. Louis, Missouri, commemorates the westward expansion of the United States. The park is home to the iconic Gateway Arch, a 630-foot tall stainless steel arch that stands as a symbol of the city and the nation's westward expansion. The arch was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen and completed in 1965. The park also includes the Old Courthouse, which played a significant role in the Dred Scott case, as well as a museum that documents the history of the arch and the westward expansion of the United States. Visitors to the park can take a tram to the top of the arch for panoramic views of the city, or take a boat tour along the Mississippi River. The park is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, and is an important part of St. Louis's cultural and historical identity.
